Most of you already
know the "story" of this scenario already. But, in case you haven't,
I'll explain it here:
So I finish the scenario
in late November 2004, and I make the beta calls. Eventually, The Creator
tests the scenario, and sends me a beta report. I looked it over, to find
57 complaints in it, all detailed and nitpicky. He concludes it with
"I suggest you release it, because making it perfect would require an
overhaul of the scenario." So I thought, "He means that it's so flawed
that it's too buggy to be playable. " I decide not to release it, because
it seemed to me as he's saying that the scenario is horrible. I didn't
want to remember any of this. I threw all my beta reports away, and tried
to forget about it.
Months later, I hop on
to The Community Chat, to check out what's going on up there. I see
Creator and TM talking to each other. Creator's greeting is "Release
ND." (I've seen Creator in the chatroom before this, though -
this wasn't the first time I've seen him in the chat after the beta report).
I told him to forget it. After a while, a debate over it starts. This
was followed by many other debates about releasing ND. I didn't want
to release it, because I was convinced it was horrible (and I threw it
away.)
On April Fools' Day, I
made an April Fool about releasing ND. The purpose was solely to taunt
Creator. Instead, the thread became another debate about releasing
ND, and eventually it gets released. It is now in the Newcomer section
in the
7th contest.
You're probably getting desperate to play
BoE now, after that long, boring story. So you ask, "So what's the plot
of Nephils' Defense."
Ah, yes, the plot...
You play as Crawlin, a
powerful Nephilim Archer. He lives with his tribe of Nephilim
on a jungle island. The tribe shares the island with another tribe. The
two tribes have had their disputes, so a mountain was grown by Nephil mages
to split the tribes up, with a checkpoint in the middle. Suddenly, for
some reason, the other tribe tries to take over yours...
The general opinion of this scenario
is that it is an improvement over Fort Emerald Robbery. The technical level
dropped a bit. The story was better, but still not that good. It almost
won Best Newcomer in the 7th Contest, but it lost only to Northern Kingdom
0: Prologue by Kelandon.
The Nephils' Defense uses a pre-fabricated party
(and this scenario IS hard with the pre-fab party), and is rated PG due
to mildly violent animation scenes. It was released on April 5th,
2005.
