The Staff of Korthax was a staff weilded by the powerful archmage, Korthax, now dead for three thousand years. It can be found on both parts of Sword and Stone. It is located somewhere on Ironcrest Island, you just need to know where. First, you need to find Korthax's Keep, which you locate differently depending on which side you're on. If you accepted orders like good little soldiers, go to Alamar. Behind the military complex is a small park. Wander around for a while. Eventually, a sprite will offer to show you something really neat. Tell it that you want to see the neat place. It will take you to Korthax's Keep. If you refused orders, you need to wait a while. After escaping the fort and forest, go around to the front of the fort and enter it. Find a storeroom and enter it. You will fall through the floor and into Korthax's Keep.

Once you're in Korthax's Keep, you need to find eight Blue Stars. They are the focusing crystals needed to power the portal. Two can be found next to the portal runes. One can be found in the dresser and two can be found in the small library. Six can be found in the caves outside of the keep so there will be a couple extras. Once you have the eight focusing crystals, place one on each rune. After a little while, the portal will appear. Step into it and it will teleport you somewhere. Return to the portal and do it a few more times.

Eventually, you will appear in Vaynkar's Lair. Vaynkar is a powerful lich who somehow got his hands on Korthax's staff. Slay Vaynkar and look for the secret door in the northwest corner of his lair. Break the force barrier, and enter. Grab the staff and anything else from Vaynkar's treasure that you want. Battle the spirits outside his lair and leave. Congradulations! You have found the Staff of Korthax.

An Extra Hint! In Korthax's Keep, after you kill the two doomguards in the small library, look around in the bookshelves. There are three spellbooks somewhere in there. Also, there are two special spells to be found. They could help you a lot in the scenario.
